Happy Faces – Stronger Adults, Stronger Families Workshop
BMBU were approached earlier in the year by Happy Faces to put on a workshop for parents. Happy Faces is a great charity in Prudhoe providing social activities for children who have additional needs, along with their siblings. They recognised that they run lots of groups and activity for the children in their local area but that parents would benefit from some support and strategies.
Our session focussed on helping parents to know and own their own window of tolerance, looking at strategies for regulating themselves before they go in to support their child with the presenting dysregulation and challenging behaviour. We finished by focusing on their networks and safety planning so that moving forward their network can offer specific useful support during the most challenging parenting times.
We thoroughly enjoyed the workshop and it was great to see parents, carers and professionals actively participating.
Thank you to everyone that attended!
