Therapeutic Parenting and What It Means for Adoption Panel – Training with Adopt North East
Training with the Adopt North East Panel Members
We loved spending time with the Adopt North East panel members recently, talking all things therapeutic parenting: the kind of parenting many adopted children with a background of trauma really need.
What we explored
Our session looked at what therapeutic parenting means for adopters in everyday life, what panel members should watch for during assessments, and when it’s worth leading with curiosity and digging a little deeper rather than taking things at face value.
It was such an engaged group. Everyone brought their own lens, skills and experience to the table, which made for a rich and thoughtful conversation. The subject matter was sensitive and at times difficult, but we explored it with a good dose of humour along the way. 😊
What panel members told us
It was so rewarding to hear that people left feeling more empowered to have a voice on panel, and that the session had made them think differently about their role and even how they shape their questions. Here are just a few highlights from the feedback:
“Sensitive + difficult subject matters, explored with respect, humour and humility.”
“Excellent training, really enjoyed listening to others. Definitely make look at how I form my questions.”
“Engaging training. Feeling even more empowered to have a voice on panel!”
Thank you
A huge thank you to everyone on the Adopt North East panel for your openness, your honesty and your commitment to the children and families you make decisions for.
