What We’ve Been Up To: June’s Online Therapeutic Parenting Sessions

In June, we delivered a number of interactive online therapeutic parenting sessions, and it was brilliant to have so many parents and members of their support networks join us.

These sessions offer practical tools and space for reflection, helping the adults around a child feel more confident, connected, and aligned in their support.

A big focus across the sessions was understanding the impact of trauma on trust. For children who have experienced early trauma, trusting the adults around them, and feeling safe enough to accept support, doesn’t always come easily. We explored what this can look like in everyday behaviour, and how adults can respond in ways that build safety over time.

It was also a good reminder for us all about the importance of the adult being regulated before supporting a dysregulated child. Taking that moment to pause, breathe, and regulate ourselves first can make all the difference.

We talked about the need to slow things down, and to remember that behaviour is communication. It’s often a sign of an unmet need, even if we don’t always know straight away what that need is. Holding that in mind helps shift our response from reaction to curiosity and compassion.

We’re proud to be offering spaces where parents and their networks can grow in confidence, strengthen their relationships, and better understand the children in their care.

Watch this space… more sessions coming soon!
